This year, join us as we take a look back at Jacqueline Jones’ Bancroft Prize winner and Pulitzer Prize finalist publication, Labor of Love, Labor of Sorrow: Black Women, Work, and the Family, from Slavery to the Present (1985). Baron Lecture, inaugurated in 2004, brings a distinguished AAS member who has written a seminal work of history to Antiquarian Hall to reflect on the book’s impact on scholarship and society in the years since its first appearance.
